As a member of the Emergency Response Team, you will receive personal updates from field staff who have worked with MSF in an emergency response, and weekly situation reports ("sit reps") based on MSF's previous emergency responses.
Your first task is to choose your role. Don't worry! You will get a chance to learn about all of the other roles and to change your personal page image, as well!
E-MedCo
Emergency Medical Coordinator. This position is usually filled by a doctor who is in charge of all medical aspects of the emergency response. The E-MedCo takes over from the existing MedCo who is already in-country, and who will have initiated the medical emergency response.
Nurse
Nurses can take on a variety of roles on an emergency team. In a vaccination campaign, a nurse will most often be in charge of vaccination, case management and surveillance.
E-LogCo
Emergency Logistical Coordinator. This is the logistician in charge of all logistics related to the emergency-including ordering supplies, managing transportation and permits, and managing all logistical staff.
Cold Chain Manager
This logistics expert reports to the E-LogCo and oversees the cold chain system, making sure that vaccines are stored and transported at a correct and consistent temperature.
E-Admin
Emergency Administrator. This person is in charge of recruiting staff onsite, arranging housing for the international staff, procuring food and other necessities for the team, arranging for transportation of the team, and the financial aspects of the emergency response.
